No Other Name!

“Jesus saith unto Him, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life: No man cometh unto the Father but by me”  John 14:6

Jesus - No Other Name

Jesus - No Other Name

In clear and simple terms, the Lord here revealed that He was the Way, the Truth, and the Life. The emphasis on the word ‘the’ makes it abundantly plain that there is absolutely no other access to God the Father, and, consequently, to Heaven, but that which comes through faith in the Divine Son of God.

It is helpful to reflect for a moment on the expression, “I am” that Jesus used in this verse. The Deity of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is made known here. References abound throughout Holy Scripture testifying to this truth. For instance in John 4:26 He is ‘Messiah’, in John 8:23 He is ‘from above’, in John 8:58 Jesus declared His Eternal origins when He said, “before Abraham was, I am.” If dear reader you need convincing of Christ’s Deity then read through the whole of John’s Gospel, this, you will find is the main focus of John’s writing. From Prodigal to Penitent – A Personal Testimony

My name is Douglas Slack, a retired engine fitter at the Derby based aero engine maker Rolls-Royce, and I have lived in the Derbyshire town of Wirksworth all my life. I am married to Winifred and we have three sons. and I wish to share my testimony with you, of how I became a Christian.

There are many matters concerning which total ignorance and complete indifference are neither tragic nor fatal. I am sure that there are few of us who can explain all the processes by which a brown cow eats green grass and gives white milk but we can still enjoy the milk! Many of us are totally ignorant of Einstein’s theory of relativity, and if we were pressed to explain it we would really be in difficulty. And not only are we ignorant of Einstein’s theory but most of us are quite indifferent; yet our ignorance and indifference are neither tragic nor fatal.

There are some matters, however, concerning which ignorance and indifference are both tragic and fatal. One such matter is the answer to the question, “What is a biblical Christian?” In other words, according to the Scriptures, when does a man, woman, boy or girl have the right to the name “Christian”? A Matter of Life or Death

A Matter of Life or Death

A Matter of Life or Death

What is the most important thing in life?  Is it happiness, your family, your career, your health?  All these have a place in answering this question.  The true answer may surprise us.  It is to prepare well for your death.

Nobody can guarantee how your health will turn out.  Nobody can give 100% assurance that you and your family will be happy or that you will have a fulfilling career.  You can be sure that all of us will die – which is why getting ready for the next life is the most important thing we can do in this life.

That there is an after-life is clear from the experience of the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s own Son, who came into the world as a human.  He died at the age of 33 but then rose again. [Read more...]
